A private RescueTime alternative for your Mac
RescueTime pioneered automatic time tracking — but your attention data goes to their servers, and the meter never stops running. StayInFlow takes the opposite approach: deliberate focus sessions, all data on-device, one price, once.

The philosophical difference
All-day trackers watch everything you do and grade you on it. That produces a lot of data — on someone else’s server — and a vague “productivity score”.
StayInFlow believes focus is deliberate. You start a session when you intend to do deep work, and the app answers one question with total honesty: how much of that time was actually flow, and what pulled you away? That framing turns tracking from surveillance into coaching.
Who should stick with RescueTime?
If you need cross-platform coverage (Windows, Android), always-on background logging, or team reporting, an all-day cloud tracker is the better fit. StayInFlow is unapologetically a native, single-player Mac app.
Who should switch to StayInFlow?
- You work on a Mac and care where your attention data lives
- You want deep-work sessions, not all-day surveillance
- You’re done with subscriptions for utilities
- You want streaks, goals, and coaching — not just reports
